Matemo Island Resort

Sun, sea and surf...all on a private beach!

The breathtakingly beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique is home to pristine coral reef gardens, leaping dolphins, game fish galore and Matemo Island Resort. Surrounded by beautiful white beaches, gently swaying palm trees and a translucent blue sea, Matemo is a tropical island paradise waiting patiently for you to arrive. And when you do, you will be blown away by excessive hospitality, dazzling surroundings and well appointed accommodation.

The beach chalets feature en-suite bathrooms, outside showers and deck hammocks for lazing in while the slow paced island world of traditional fishing dhows and undulating Ocean waves continues on unabated as it has for centuries. All the guest areas are elevated above the sea, providing ample views and the lively bar, dining area and swimming pool are all situated to best take in the same impressive views. Fresh, seafood meals can be served in a variety of locations, from the open dining area to the poolside or on the sand with the sea lapping at your feet. And to ensure ultimate relaxation, a range of simple spa treatments is on offer and can be enjoyed wherever you please, yes even in your hammock!

The tropical waters around Matemo provide the perfect snorkeling and diving experience with many many amazing reefs to explore including a few wrecks and spectacular coral "bommies". The fishing here is also excellent, whether in the deeper water or simply from the shore you are bound to hook into some fun and excitement. There are also more active activities to engage in such as sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing and kayaking. You can also take in a bit of the culture and history surrounding this part of the world with a tour to Ibo Island, where once slaves, pirates and ivory where the trades.
