A Wild Andasibe & Anjajavy Tour

From Wild Lemurs to Tropical Beaches

Explore Andasibe-Mantadia National Park and Anjajavy in this exciting itinerary ideal for those looking to combine adventure and relaxation. Get up close and personal with lemurs of every variety on lemur island and then head to the beach for tropical waters and palm trees.

Andasibe-Mantadia is Madagascar's most visited reserve, as it is so easy to access. It's home to a large variety of rare rainforest animals, notably the Indri, largest of all Lemurs. The park is about a 3 hour drive from Antananarivo on a good paved road. Expert forest guides will help you spot the many rare mammals, birds and plants.

Anjajavy is one the most remote places you'll ever see and is about an hour and a half plane ride from Tana with amazing views. You'll have private beaches and pools to relax in.

This 11-day tour includes accommodation and meals as indicated, all excursions with car and driver, guides in the reserves, entry permits and all airport-hotel transfers. It includes return flights for two passengers from Johannesburg International Airport to Antananarivo and internal air transfers within Madagascar as indicated. It excludes meals where indicated, drinks, tips to guides, porters, any personal expenses, travel insurance, airport taxes, optional excursions, and visa fees which are payable in cash on arrival at Antananarivo.

Day 1 - 2: Le Pavillion de L’Emyrne, Antananarivo

You will fly from Johannesburg International Airport to Antananarivo, the lively Malagasy capital in the Central Highlands (2 passengers, return). At the airport our English-speaking Malagasy agents will meet and assist you with formalities. You will be transferred to Pavillon de l’emyrne for one night (double).

Meals: breakfast

Day 2 - 5: Vakona Forest Lodge, East Madagascar

Check out of the hotel and our representative will transfer you from Pavillon de l’emyrne to Andisibe, where you will spend 3 nights in Vakona Forest Lodge (double). It's a three hour journey by car. In the evening, you can go on an introductory walk  to see the nocturnal species.

In the morning you will have the whole day to explore Andasibe-Mantadia National Park's rainforest. To get the most out of your visit here it is best to start early as this is when the birds and wildlife are most active. The trails are not difficult to manage and forest guides speak good English. If lucky, you will see Grey Bamboo Lemur, Red-fronted Brown Lemur, Blue Coua, Velvet Asity and perhaps Nuthatch Vanga. You will also discover reptiles like the Malagasy Tree Boa and Parson's Chameleon. Orchids and other epiphytes festoon the trees. Stay over at Vakona.

Next morning you can similarly enjoy the Andasibe National Park and overnight once more at Vakona Lodge.
