Our favourite lodges in Botswana's Tuli Block

Tuli Block’s indomitable landscape consists of rocky outcrops, extensive scrubland, and riparian forests along the Motloutse and Limpopo rivers. Tucked away in the far-eastern corner of Botswana on a narrow sliver of land, this terrain which was once thought to be good for nothing but small-scale cattle farming has now been transformed into wildlife haven and exclusive safari destination.

The landscape is in sharp contrast to the rest of the country. Crags and jutting boulders dotted with baobabs and sesame trees, and the block’s two rivers are home to an abundance of wildlife flourishing in this seemingly hostile crook. Tuli Block is predominantly comprised of privately-owned game farms stretched across 300,000 hectares and - aside from an excellent population of wildlife - the block’s Mashatu Game Reserve is well-known for having the largest elephant population on private land.

Because private reserves make up most of the area, visitors can enjoy night drives and go in search of Botswana’s nocturnal residents – among them the elusive leopard, aardwold, aardvark and caracul. By day, safari enthusiasts can explore the area on foot, by mountain bike, or from the comfort of a safari vehicle. Here you may see the likes of big cats, hippo and warthog population, or the migrant impala, zebra, and kudu. Geographical treasures such as Solomon’s Wall, the Tswapong and Lepokole Hills are nearby.
