Pelo Camp is situated in the private Jao Concession on the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta in Botswana and the latest edition to Wilderness Safari properties. The word Pelo means ‘heart’- a perfect name for the camp that is situated on a heart shaped island from the sky. The camp is completely eco-friendly with no permanent structures and is ideal for the adventurous traveller wanting that classic, traditional Delta experience.
There are no game drives offered at Pelo. The idea is to get away from vehicles and the hustle of the modern world. The camp has only five spacious guest tents with en-suite bathrooms and a covered front veranda. The main area of the camp has a dining area and lounge situated under wild date palms, and Natal mahogany trees.
The island is always surrounded by water which is great for water based activities on mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) as well as boating and walking. Wildlife concentrations around the camp depend on the water flow and volume and differ from season to season. Birdlife is abundant and bird watchers can will have a great time spotting different species around the camp. There is also seasonal catch and release fishing available at the Camp for guests who enjoy fishing.
