Kwando Nxai Pan Camp

A holiday in ‘hidden’ Botswana

Nxai Pan National Park in eastern Botswana lies just north of the Maun-Nata road and adjoins Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on its northern border. Nxai Pan is a 40-square-kilometre fossil lakebed within the park and Kwando Nxai Pan Camp can be found just on its western edge.

Activities offered from the camp include daily game drives, day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Khama Khama Pan, star-gazing as well as nature walks with Bushman trackers. Once the rains come, the plains-game count goes up and predators such as spotted hyena, cheetah, leopard and jackal and even buffalo and elephant can be seen.

8 purpose-built Desert Rooms with thatched roofs and insulation, accommodating a maximum of 18 people, make up the camp. A lounge, dining room and viewing deck are a great place to gather to share stories of the day’s adventures with fellow guests. The waterhole in front of the camp attracts a variety of wildlife and birdlife that can be viewed from the comfort of your own veranda. A swimming pool brings relief from the summer heat and a library and curio shop offer ways to spend lazy afternoons.
