Sail down the Selinda Spillway

Bone dry for 30 years, the Selinda Spillway has now become a permanent watery channel connecting the northern part of the Okavango Delta with the Linyanti Swamps. With its flooding came a plethora of wildlife and thus the Selinda Adventure Trail was born—a canoe trip in which guests wind their way down the Spillway over five days, camping along the banks of the river.

A day along the canoe trail begins at the break of dawn in 18-foot Canadian canoes. Guests spend the day paddling down the Spillway past riverine forests, floodplains, and open savannah. Bear witness to wildlife wandering along the banks and disembark from the canoes to follow wildlife tracks on foot with experienced guides. The day ends with an arrival at the campsite before dark and guests can spend the late afternoon swimming and birdwatching.

The camp itself consists of mobile dome tents which can accommodate two guests and come complete with bucket shower and ‘short drop’ toilet. Evenings are spent sitting around the fire and partaking in delicious meals cooked over the fire by the trail chef.
