Chapter House Boutique Hotel echoes the heritage of the small town it calls home. Franschhoek’s (French corner) initial inhabitants were French Huguenot refugees who left an indelible mark on the area after being given a plot of land, then known as Oliphantshoek (Elephant’s corner), by the Dutch government.

With its unspoilt Cape Dutch architecture, tree-lined streets and wine farms, Franschhoek is now a remarkably popular romantic and cultural getaway. The Franschhoek Motor Museum houses four warehouses containing an excellent vintage car collection, while the Huguenot Museum celebrates the original settlers and Solms-Delta museum celebrates South African cultural heritage.

Established as a mission station in 1888, the hotel is decorated in French farmhouse style, making the most of the original structures’ high ceilings and wooden floors. The décor is simply captivating, impressively combining heritage design with local creativity, charm and colour. The hotel has three room categories, Classic, Deluxe and Superior and some come with private plunge pools, Jacuzzis, or courtyards.
