Blue Gum Country Estate

Blue Gum Country Estate is both a family-run guest house and working farm dating back to 1839, and it's about two hours’ drive from Cape Town. Named for the statuesque 140-year-old Blue Gum adorning the front lawn, the guest house provides the warmth and hospitality of a private home. 

The picturesque estate lends itself to scenic strolls while some of the 100 recorded bird species flit about. With a mountain trail, tennis court, swimming pool, library complete with board games, boules and DVD selection, and a children’s play area, there is something for everyone. A 10-minute drive will have you in historical Stanford while Hermanus is also comfortably close. Restaurants, artist’s studios and various activities are prolific in the region. 

The main house contains five Manor House Suites and two Honeymoon Suites which are particularly decadent with double open baths, fireplaces, double shower and either private garden or verandah. Further accommodation consists of five family-friendly Mountain View Cottages which sleep four, and two secluded Blue Gum Cottages. BARKE restaurant offers a family-friendly atmosphere with excellent food all day while The Blue Gum Restaurant offers more exclusive dinners.
