Sitting pretty on the banks of the Zambezi River, shaded by a grove of evergreen mahogany trees and frequented by the local wildlife is Chiawa Camp, undoubtably one of the finest camps in Zambia. Winner of numerous awards over the years including winner of the 2008 best guiding team in Africa and finalist in the best safari property in Southern Africa as well as being named one of Conde Nast's Top Ten safari camps in Africa. The family run camp was established in 1989 by the cummings family who still own and run the camp to this day. A superbly slick operation, it's very difficult to find a flaw in the setup. From a fine selection of luxurious tented accommodation including the brand new 'superior tents' with their uninterrupted views of the river, the experienced, professional and extremely friendly guides and camp staff, the special wildlife viewing in this area and the full range of activities on offer and the sumptous afro-euro fusion food coming out of the kitchen, it's all so perfect, it might just be the perfect safari destination! If you are lucky you may even be treated to a recital by the Chiawa Camp Choir, who even have a cd out!
