The Gorah Elephant Camp is a private concession in the Addo Elephant National Park, situated along the Garden Route in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. Addo is home to one of the densest African elephant populations on earth.
Here in Addo you will also find the other members of the Big 5. Yet another advantage of this lovely camp is that it's situated within a malaria-free territory. There is no electricity at Gorah but the lack thereof adds to the experience with candles and lanterns setting a romantic mood. The ambience of the eleven spacious and luxurious tents recalls the golden era of safari in the early 1900s while simulatenously exuding the comfort associated with Africa's finest game lodges.
Gorah Elephant Camp features an excellent outdoor terrace which opens up onto a teeming waterhole - where elephant, buffalo, warthog, antelope and even lion come to quench their thirst. In the summer months, a swimming pool with a wooden deck offers guests a chance to cool off. The South African pastime of barbequing (or braaing as the locals call it) can be experienced in the outdoor boma where travellers are privileged to dine beneath the starlit sky.
The Gorah experience perfectly compliments your Garden Route adventure and is close to the coast and the many other attractions on offer in the Eastern Cape. Whether taking in the majesty of elephant herds or lions gathering around the waterhole, the Gorah experience is extraordinary. Explore the bush with experienced rangers in open vehicles or simply relax at the pool and appreciate the warmth of the African sun. The choice is yours.
