Rhino Africa is committed to doing their bit for human dignity and the upliftment of people everywhere!
Living in Africa we know that we all have a part to play in our own growth and the expansion of our all of our people. To this end we have teamed up with uThando (meaning love!), a non-profit organisation that aims to assist the tourism industry put some of their profits back into the land and people that make it such a special destination.
Uthando is a registered Section 21 non-profit organisation that has a host of amazing projects and organisations on its benefactor list. It is the brainchild of philanthropist, James Fernie, who worked in the travel industry for many years before deciding that his true purpose was to inspire and assist the beautiful people of our country! He has used all his contacts in the industry to bring us all together for the common cause of projects such as the Beauty for Ashes, Green Futures, Home from Home, Hout Bay Music Project, JIKELEZA: a chance to dance, Khumbalani Orphanage Centre, Mandela Park Mosiacs, Nazareth House, Neighbourhood Old Age Home (NOAH) and the Pebbles Project.

In our pledge to help uThando help these projects and more – we have pledged to give them a percentage of our profits for each booking that goes through Rhino Africa. So in effect we pay uThando a fee for your booking so you are indirectly helping these projects when you book with a Rhino Africa travel consultant. Furthermore, if you feel strongly about any of these projects we can facilitate further donations to be distributed to uThando and their benefactors on your behalf. We also encourage anyone who kindly donates to these causes to take the opportunity to visit them during your stay in South Africa. We arrange all the necessary safe and convenient travel arrangements for you so that you might see where your financial assistance is being put to good use. It’s a great way for the projects concerned to interact with foreigners and for the exchange to be more personal and meaningful for all parties concerned.
Besides our commitment to assist uThando as far as we possibly can, we also make a monthly donation to The Arc Childrens’ Home who care for orphaned or destitute children. We also host an annual Christmas party for them where our staff members get involved and create a festive day of fun and interaction with the children. An outing, followed by a picnic in Stellenbosch with a host of crazy games is usually the order of the day and one that leaves us exhausted but totally rewarded by the happy smiles.
If you would like to make a donation towards the projects at uThando or if you would like to visit any of the projects (you do not have to donate anything to go and experience the lesser known projects in South Africa!) then please visit
