Jacana Safari Lodge looks out onto a crater lake in Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. It is an environmentally friendly lodge which has done its bit to protect the local environment as it is made pretty much entirely from local materials. Catch a tan beside the pool during the day and wallow in the warm waters. The cosy Virunga Lounge with its roaring fireplace is a welcome retreat in the cool evening as is the steaming sauna.
And one of the highlights has to be staying in the treehouses - there are 7 wooden chalets which are located in the heart of the forest. Each one is individually decorated with showers and flush toilets. Step out onto your private verandah for stunning views of the Crater Lake. You can wine and dine at the Fish Eagle Bar, right on the jetty beside the water - ideal for that romantic candlelit dinner. Or there is the Tembo Bar which opens out onto the emerald waters - or your private balcony if you choose.
Jacana Safari Lodge is ideally located to take in the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy nature walks with your expert ranger and go on game drives through the bush and spot elephant, leopard, lion and more! Enjoy sundowner cruises down the crater lakes, along the Kazinga Channel and spot hippos and crocodiles along the way. Or be guided along in a gondola or canoe down the channels. You can also track chimpanzees in the gorge and the birdwatching is among the best in Africa.
