The North Coast of Zanzibar is the most developed for tourism and offers an easy and enjoyable experience of the island. It's not exactly off the beaten track, but not many places are these days. And if you're looking for a holiday, you've come to the right place!
Most tourists stay in Nungwi, which has swollen from a fishing village and hippie hangout to the island's most visited beach resort. The beach, although busy, is beautiful and the turquoise-coloured waters seem to stretch into infinity. Dhows sail timelessly by and sunsets are pretty spectacular. There is a super selection of restaurants serving fresh seafood and the nightlife is among the best on the island. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you can head further south to Kwendwa, with its unspoilt beaches and serene setting.
NB: Getting to the North Coast is pretty easy. Nungwi is just 59km from Stone Town and takes about an hour by road. Our consultants have been here before and can organise every aspect of your trip.
