Isandlwana Lodge, a luxury twelve bedroom lodge, is situated on one of the most remarkable historic sites in Southern Africa. The lodge overlooks the Isandlwana battlefield - a view of stark and haunting beauty. The lodge itself is sympathetically and attractively built into the landscape, making the most of the vistas with large floor to ceiling windows and terracing outside. The actual spot on 'Nyoni rock' is just below where the Zulu commander stood and directed his troops in the battle below.

All the rooms are en-suite with their own private balconies and the same commanding view of the battlefield, the Isandlwana Mountain, the charming cultural village below and the mountain ranges in the distance. Their is a sparkling inviting pool set amongst the offers a haven in which to relax and soak up the warmth of the African sun after a morning of exploring the battlefield. In cooler weather and in the evenings choose rather to relax in the library with a book on the Anglo-Zulu war and brush up on your knowledge. Isandlwana Lodge is within easy reach of some of South Africa's major game reserves and it is an easy driving distance from Rorke's Drift and Anglo Boer sites as well. Rob Gerrard, FRGS, resident historian at Isandlwana Lodge, takes guests on tours of the battlefields where he makes history come alive. In addition to Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer battlefield tours, the Lodge offers photographic safaris, walking - and horse - trails and cultural experiences.
