The reserve is predominantly open savannah and has a year round climate that is near perfect. What better way to enjoy your surroundings than with exhilarating dawn and dusk safaris from open land rovers or bush walks for the more adventurous among you. If the excitement gets a little too much, then why not just kick back around your campfire as lions roar somewhere out in the distant bush. It's just another day in Africa. There is an abundance of bird and mammal species and with such breathtaking open savannas, exceptional game viewing is virtually guaranteed. But there is also a lot of thick bush on the reserve, so it's a good thing that Thornybush's trackers and rangers are reputedly among the best in South Africa. They’ll do all the hard searching for you, but there’s a definite thrill in spotting something before your hawk eyed ranger such as South Africa's only Master Tracker, Wilson Masiya, who works at Royal Malewane. Thornybush has a host of trackers that have learnt from Wilson. Their vast knowledge is there for your use, so don't be shy, ask your questions and learn something new - it's all part of the safari experience.
