Overlooking the sweeping plains leading down to the Bushmans River, Long Lee Manor is a reminder of the gracious living of a bygone era. The manor was originally built in 1910 and offers a distinctive colonial experience. This splendidly restored Edwardian Manor House offers guests refined comfort, congenial service and enticing cuisine in the African bush.

Long Lee accommodates 38 guests in elegant en-suite rooms, all with air-conditioning and heating, as well as family suites for guests travelling with children. Sumptuously prepared meals are enjoyed in the main dining room or around the open blazing fire at the Barn. There is also a river lapa which is another venue option for outdoor meals.

Between the morning and evening game drives guests can laze around one of the two pools, relax in the beautifully appointed garden lounge, or experience a rejuvenating treatment in the spa. And you can spot animals drinking from the nearby waterhole while you lounge about on the leafy terrace!

Conservation in the Shamwari Reserve

The Shamwari Game Reserve is in the malaria-free area of the Eastern Cape and is an excellent destination for families. The reserve has received some notable international awards including including the ‘World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve’ for five consecutive years.

Conservation at Shamwari is about the management, development and rehabilitation of the environment to create a sustainable ecosystem through the implementation of fundamental conservation principles. The conservation department at Shamwari has a highly effective team including a qualified wildlife veterinarian, ecologist and environmentalist. The Wildlife Department also boasts a breeding centre, an education centre and an anti-poaching unit.

Shamwari has fine-tuned the African adventure with conservation efforts and is at the forefront of responsible tourism.
