Named after an ancient super-continent, Sanbona Gondwana Lodge is the latest luxury accommodation located on Sabona Wildlife Reserve. Only 3 hours from Cape Town, Sanbona Game Reserve boasts 54 000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous flora and fauna, rock formations and rock art. Gondwana lodge is the perfect family lodge offering numerous facilities and activities geared specifically for a family safari.

The lodge is made up of 12 large suites boasting private decks, king-sized beds, under-floor heating and Wi-Fi. Karoo stylings complete each suite's dry and rugged feel while the textiles keep it in soft and plush. Go on a game drive, nature walk, bird watch or star gaze with the family and take solace in the fact that you’ll be returning to a lodge that has been approved by the Green Leaf Environmental Standard. Main guest facilities at Gondwana Lodge include a bar / lounge with fire place, a dining area, a relaxation retreat with 2 therapy rooms and a steam room, a gift boutique, a swimming pool with a shallow area, a children's playroom with TV, and an open air boma.

The highlight of Gondwana lodge is definitely the "Kids on Safari" program. A range of outdoor activities are available to children of all ages, including an interpretive trail through the garden of Gondwana learning about animals that occur on the reserve as well as tracks and important plants. Visit the sites where the San people left their legacy on the rock faces at Sanbona, where the ranger will interpret the scene so that the children can create their own ‘rock’ art. Children can partake in various social, sporting and art activities such as bead making, clay making activities, face painting, star gazing.

There is also a wide selection of indoor activities including art with scrap books, paper, scissors, glue crayons, pencils & paints. Puzzles of varying sizes and difficulties covering a broad age range. Documentary DVD’s on various conservation topics and animals, animated movies. A selection of entertaining and educational children’s books and fun board games.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is situated approximately 3 hrs from Cape Town on the renowned Route 62 between Montague and Barrydale. The turn-off is 40km from Montague and 19km from Barrydale and is signposted at the Vlakte, the main entrance to the reserve is 7km from the R62, where a member of the staff will greet guests.
