Kanonkop Guest House is an elegant offering just a few kilometres outside the town of Knysna. It is perched on the cliffs overlooking the famous lagoon as it stretches into the Indian Ocean and is surrounded by indigenous forest complete with singing birds, bushbuck and other regular visitors. The rooms, all five of them, are large, individually decorated by top designers and unfold into the view over the lagoon like a ballet dancer’s elaborate end-of-show bow. The Paradise suite, so named without a hint of irony, occupies the third floor and absorbs the view all the way into the sumptuous bathroom. The other suites are by no means insignificant, with large terraces, lagoon-views and enveloping luxury. Service and personal attention outshine the stylish elegance by a few candles.

Owned and operated by the charismatic Conyers family, you will indeed feel like their personal guest and they will try to fill your day with as many Knysna treats as possible. Use their boat for skiing or gentle sundowner cruises; use their kayak to paddle up the river; take their top quality mountain bikes for a forest spin or tackle up and go fishing. As a guest at Kanonkop you will have access to some of the country’s most exclusive golf courses and your hosts - Samantha, Chris and Mark - will see to your every need.

The Paradise Suite occupies the entire third floor and lives up to its name in every respect. Rated by Frommers as the best room in Knysna, this suite has been decorated with style using original artwork, magnificent furniture and the ever-impressive Kynsna views. The king size sleigh bed is the focal point of the bedroom while the bathroom's view of the lagoon and Indian Ocean beyond is equally spectacular. Amenities and comfort are top notch and your time in paradise will be time well spent. It's a cliche we know, but this room certainly does live up to its name - and we are sure that you will agree!

Further up the hill is a new addition to the guesthouse, Knysna Heights Villa. Exclusive-use with three double en suite bedrooms and a bright, airy and relaxing beachside feel, the villa has sensational views of the Knsyna Lagoon and complete privacy.
