Le Petite Ferme's opulent bathrooms
Offering complete privacy, total luxury and a lord’s-eye view of the land below, La Petite Ferme is not just another quaint French name for a quaint guesthouse in Franschhoek. Not by half. The farm is indeed small and it produces some sensational wines; the restaurant came first, earning La Ferme a reputation and a devoted following. Accommodation become the next obvious progression, and here again, a satisfying balance of luxury and homeliness was achieved.
The suites, separated by pathways that wind through the vineyards and garden, are spacious and undemanding with wicker furniture, rough-sawn roof beams and reed ceilings, hefty fireplaces, free-standing baths and wooden furniture that is ever-so-slightly ornate. Luxury arrives in the form of private plunge pools, twin-headed showers, extended beds, percale linen, underfloor heating, air conditioning and a full mini bar – and that’s just the standard suites. Luxury suites and the newly acquired Lakeside Cottages take all of the above and double it – the Lakeside Lodge adding self-catering accommodation to their list of offerings.
La Petite Ferme – exceptional country cooking with a view of the Franschhoek valley and mountains
La Petite Ferme restaurant is the proud heritage of three generations and the recipient of many annual accolades. The verandah keeps the weather out and the view in and the menu changes according to season. Asian influences and African ingredients shine in a mouth-watering array of dishes that are paired with a handful of the farm’s own wines. The award-winning Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant across the road takes over at dinner time or you can drive down to the Village, which has a beguiling array of world-class restaurants.
