30km of continuous beach
False Bay is fringed by 30 kilometres of almost continuous white sandy beach and the water is a shade warmer on this side of Cape Point. Visit a number of old, established and attractive seaside centre's including Simons Town, Fish Hoek, Muizenberg and Kalk Bay.
Simon's Town is a seaside hamlet steeped in Naval History; its harbour provided a valuable anchorage during the British colonial era. Pay a visit to Boulders Beach which is a breeding colony for the endangered African Penguin. Fish Hoek is an endearing seaside town, whose claim to fame is that it's a "dry town", so stock up on booze before visiting, if that's your thing.
Muizenberg may be passed its heyday, when the beaches were as popular as those of Clifton and Camps Bay but it's still a scenic area, the water is warm and it's a great spot to learn to surf! Plus the addition of beachside coffee shops and eateries add to its appeal. Kalk Bay makes you feel as though you're miles away from the city and has a number of antique and book shops, art galleries, clothing stores and seaside pubs and restaurants. They're all well worth a visit.
