Namibia really does lend its self to traveling by road and our self drive safari around Namibia is one of our most popular tours. From Windhoek you start by traveling north to Okonjima, the home of the Africat Foundation. Etosha is next; spend 2 nights in a private reserve outside the national park The following day you will drive through the Etosha Park, and spend a night in the newly refurbished Okaukuejo Rest Camp, made famous by its spectacular watering hole.
From Etosha you drive west towards Damaraland, a scenic landscape dating back millions of years.Swakopmund is a holiday town on the coast of Namibia and is home to a variety of activities. From Swakopmund you will drive to the Namib Desert and the Sossusvlei Area.

Day 1: Windhoek ,Olive Grove Guest House
Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako Windhoek Airport you will be met and assisted with your car rental formalities and given a self-drive briefing. You will drive approximately 45 km to the
Olive Grove Guest House in the centre of Windhoek.
Windhoek is the capital of Namibia and as such is a multicultural melting pot with lots of things to do. The city of Windhoek has a strong German influence and many of the buildings in the city look as if they would be more in place in Europe.

Day 2: Waterberg, Okonjima Bush Camp or Okonjima Tented Camp
This morning you will depart from Windhoek and head north and drive approximately 275 kms / 3 hours to Okonjima Lodge. Feel free to stop enroute at Okahandja where the local Kavango woodcarvers craft their trade at a large open air market.
In the
Waterberg Plateau area of Namibia, Okonjima is the headquarters of the
Africat Foundation, and it is here that you can have the unique experience of seeing the conservation work that this non-profit organization does with Namibia’s largest Carnivores including Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog

Day 3 - 4: Onguma Private Game Reserve, Onguma Bush Camp or Onguma Tented Camp
This morning you drive approximately 395 kms/ 4 ½ hours to Onguma adjacent to the Onguma Private Nature Reserve. The reserve extends over 20 000 hectares and its protected wildlife includes lion, jackals, countless antelope plus the rare and endangered black rhino.
Sharing the eastern border of
Namibia’s Etosha National Park, Onguma’s privacy affords you the opportunity to enjoy game viewing in a private reserve, involving night game drives, bush walks and night drives.

Day 5: Etosha National Park, Okaukuejo Rest Camp
Drive to Okaukuejo Rest Camp. The distance covered depends on the game-drive routes you choose and time spent game-viewing. Okaukuejo Rest is in the Etosha National Park and has a large floodlit watering hole where rhino and lion can be viewed at night.

Day 6 & 7 : Damaraland, Twyfelfontein Lodge or Mowani Mountain Camp
Today you will drive approximately 360 kms / 4 ½ - 5 hours to
Damaraland . This area has a lot to offer. Explore the magnificent landscapes of the Huab River Valley, visiting the prehistoric rock galleries at Twyfelfontein. The area is strewn with boulders, all dotted with thousands of engravings and ancient paintings, some dating back to 3300 B.C. Geological features in the area include the Organ Pipes, considered to be over 130 million years old, Burnt Mountain and the Petrified Forest.

Day 8 -9 : Swakopmund, Beach Hotel or Burning Shores
Drive approximately 430 kms / 6 hours to Swakopmund Hotel in Swakopmund.
Swakopmund is a much loved town . Founded in 1892 during the German Colonial Rule it served as the territories main harbor for many years. Its coast with its desert hinterland offers many options both for adventure and for relaxation.

Day 10 -11 : Namib Desert, Sossusvlei Lodge or Kulula Desert Lodge
Drive approximately 340 kms / 6 hours to Namib Desert where you will over night for two nights. The Namib Desert is the oldest and driest in the world. Spend two days exploring
Sossusvlei, Dead Pan Vlei and the famous Dune 45. The area is arguably the most famous destination in Namibia, and the spectacular dunes are ideally photographed at dawn when the shadows play over the dunes, to provide some superb photographic opportunities.

Day 11: Day of Departure
Drive approximately 360 kms / 4 - 5 hours to Windhoek International Airport and drop off hired vehicle
