An overnight in the cosmopolitan Kenyan capital city affords you the opportunity to take in some nightlife or eat at the world famous 'Carnivore' restuarant. Later you might see some real carnivores as you take in the nightlife of a different kind on a night game drive. Then there's all the other amazing sights, such as the magnificent Mount Kenya, the semi-arid Samburu countryside and the rolling plains of the Masai Mara. With so much to see and do, isn't it such a good thing you remembered to pack your camera!

Day 1: Nairobi

Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to the Intercontinental Hotel, overlooking the city, the Nairobi Uhuru Gardens and the Kenyan Parliament, it is only 10 minutes walk from the city centre and 20 minutes drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - 3: Nairobi – Mount Kenya

Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you'll journey north, passing near Thika, which boasts the world's third largest pineapple plantation, and Karatina, with its colourful market. Soon you turn off on the main road and head for Mount Kenya Safari Club. Deep in Kikuyu country, far from civilization, this magnificent resort was built on the slopes of Mount Kenya during the 1950’s and attracted the rich and famous, from Hollywood to British royalty. Arrive at the Club in time for a sumptous lunch. Rest of the day at leisure. On the following day enjoy a host of activities on offer at the club.

Day 4 - 5: Mount Kenya – Samburu

An early morning start takes you through Naro Moru haven for trout fishermen and mountain climbers and Nanyuki, where you'll begin a journey across the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, eventually heading north to a dusty outpost known as Isiolo, the last major stop on the journey into the remote northern frontier district. From here it's a fairly short hop to Samburu, where you’ll arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, depart for an afternoon game drive returning to the camp as the sun sets. The following mornings game drive is followed by breakfast, and time to relax by the camp’s pool or the terrace overlooking the river. After lunch there will be another game drive returning to the camp as the sun sets.

Day 6 - 7: Samburu Game Reserve – Masai Mara

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. Flight departs Samburu at 09h30 and arrives into the Masai Mara at 11h00. On arrival you will be met by a guide from the camp for your first game drive, before arriving at camp for lunch. Surrounded on three sides by the Mara River, all of the 50 tents have their own private river frontage, with four-poster beds, veranda, and electricity, modern en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water. Following an afternoon siesta, there is another game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 8: Masai Mara National Reserve - Nairobi

Following breakfast you return to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi. Flight departs Masai Mara at 11h00 and arrives into Nairobi at 12h15. On arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta airport or City Centre Hotel.

You may also wish to extend your stay to the Mombasa Coast. Contact your Rhino Africa consultant about adding on to this tour.
