This 8 day self drive tour of Namibia is a shortened compact version of our Wheels around Namibia. Concentrating on the Namibian highlights in the northern part of the country, it is ideal for those wishing to experience a little bit of what Namibia has to offer. Starting in Windhoek, you will then depart for Okonjima. Okonjima is home to the Africat Foundation. At Onguma Private Game Reserve, adjacent to Etosha National Park, you will have the opportunity to enjoy private game drives. Spending a night at Okaukeujo will give you the opportunity to sit at the large watering hole. Damaraland is home to some scenic landscapes, you will spend a night here on route to Swakopmund, before driving to Windhoek for what will sadly be the end of your adventure.
NB: This tour is just a guideline. You can extend or shorten it as you please, upgrade or downgrade accommodation and change it to suit your budget and needs.

Day 1: Windhoek, Olive Grove Guest House
Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek) Airport you will be met and assisted with your car rental formalities and given a briefing. From here you will drive approximately 45 kms / 45 minutes to the Olive Grove Boutique Hotel.
Windhoek is the Capital City of Namibia and as such is a multi cultural melting pot with lots of things to see and do. The city of Windhoek has a strong German influence and many of the buildings in the city almost look as if they would be more in place in Europe

Day 2: Waterberg, Okonjima Bush Camp or Tented Camp
This morning after breakfast you will drive approximately 230kms / 3 hours to Okonjima Bush Camp. Okonjima is home to the Africat Foundation which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation and protection of Namibia’s threatened cats, primarily cheetah and leopard. Guests will be able to see this programme at work and learn more about these beautiful creatures, in addition to having some excellent photographic opportunities. For clients wanting to get in touch with nature there are a number of walking trails including a guided San trail where you will learn about the traditional lifestyle and philosophy of these unique and ancient people.

Day 3 : Etosha National Park, Onguma Bush Lodge or Onguma Tented Camp
This morning you will drive approximately 355kms / 4 - 5 hours to Onguma Private Game Reserve which near the Eastern entrance of the famous
Etosha National Park.
Onguma is a private Nature Reserve which extends over 20 000 hectares and its protected wildlife includes lion, jackals,countless antelope plus the rate and endangered black rhino.
Sharing the eastern border of Namibia’s famous Etosha National Park, Onguma affords you the opportunity to enjoy game viewing in a private reserve, involving night game drives, bush walks and night drives

Day 5 : Etosha National Park, Okakeujo Rest Camp Today you will have a chance to explore a little more of Etosha. Spend the morning at Onguma Lodge before self driving through Etosha to Okaukeujo. Okaukeujo is one of the Namibia Wildlife Resorts within the Etosha National Park. Accommodation is simple, but recently upgraded, staying in the park and particularly at Okaukeujo affords you the opportunity to watch the watering hole at night, as wildlife comes to drink.

Day 6 : Damaraland, Twyfelfontein Lodge or Mowana Mountain Lodge After breakfast this morning you will drive approximately 360kms / 4 - 5 hours to the
Damaraland Area. Close to Twyfelfontein the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes. The area is scenically spectacular and those will an interest in geologically and rock paintings will find the area particularly enjoyable.

Meals : Dinner, Bed & Breakfast Day 7 : Swakopmund
Today you will drive approximately 420kms / 6 hours to
Swakopmund Hotel. Swakopmund exudes romance and history, a rich cultural melting pot of old and new. Founded in 1892 during the German colonial rule the town is quaint desert town hedged by desert and sea, and enhanced by lush green lawns, palm trees and carefully tended public gardens.

Meals : Bed & Breakfast Day 8 : Day of Departure
A final morning in Swakopmund before self driving back to Windhoek, where you will drop off your car, in time for your onward travel arrangements.
