Namibia is a country of many beautiful places, some stark and dry some lush and green. A drive from one end to the other could see you pass through desert, riverine forest and coastal dunes. Gareth has driven the whole country "stukkend" (broken) as he puts it. As an expert on travel in Namibia, Gareth has put together this tour which encompasses much of this beautiful country and includes big game viewing, magnificent vistas and superb accommodation.

  • Vast dunes, rugged mountians and unsurpassed vistas
  • Swakopmund
  • The unique vegetation, wild life and people of the Damaraland
  • Lion, leopard, rhino and elephant at Onguma tented camp, adjacent to the Etosha National Park
  • AfriCAT foundation, viewing of leopard and cheetah in close proximity

Your Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 - 4: Windhoek - Sossusvlei

Pick up your hired car at Windhoek airport and drive yourself to Kulala Desert Lodge. Kulala is situated in the sossusvlei area of Namibia, which is known for it's vast open plains, massive stark dunes and rugged mountains. If the heat of the day gets to much, relax in the pool or in the coolness of your well appointed room.

As with all our tours, we emphasize that these are just guidelines. You are welcome to choose a different hotel, a different route.. a different country. Just ask your travel expert to help you make those choices.

Accommodation : Kulala Desert Lodge
Basis : Full Board & Activities

Day 4 - 6 : Swakopmund

Check out from Kulala and drive yourself to Swakopmund where you will be staying in The Stiltz hotel. The Stiltz is one of the most interesting hotels in Swakopmund and yes, it is built on stilts above the Swakop river mouth. In Swakopmund you can expect moderate temperatures and exciting days. Don't relax to much here, you will want to try sand boarding, para-sailing and a four wheeler excursion. And when you get tired of fun in the sand, why not try some water based activities. Take a boat out to see dolphins, seals and whales or even try your hand at fishing.

Accommodation : The Stiltz
Basis : Breakfast

Day 6 - 8 : Damaraland

Check out at The Stiltz and drive yourself to the Damaraland area, there you will check in at the Damaraland Camp. Damaraland Camp, situated on the north bank of the Huab river valley, looks out over the surreal landscape of the Damaraland. Bleached blond grass, stunted trees, wild-mustard bush and occasional acacia thickets and hidden somewhere in their midst, the elusive desert elephant and the seldom seen and very rare desert black rhino.

Accommodation : Damaraland Camp
Basis : Full Board & Activities

Day 8 - 10 : Etosha National Park

After driving yourself from Damaraland Camp, check in at Okaukuejo, pronounced oka-KOO-yo This no-frills lodge has been recently renovated and your bungalow has access to the bar, swimming pool and restuarant. In Etosha you can expect to see all of the big five and if your lucky most of what you see will be at the waterhole just in front of the camp.

If Okaukejo doesn't meet your fancy, speak to your consultant about some of the many alternatives, none of our tours are set in stone, in fact we like to think of them as guidelines.

Accommodation : Okaukuejo
Basis : Breakfast

Day 10 - 12 : Etosha National Park

Move from Okaukuejo to Onguma Tented Camp. Onguma Tented Camp situated adjacent to the Etosha National Park provides elegant and stylish accomodation and the opportunity for excellent game viewing. Here you can expect to see four out of the big five in lion, leopard, rhino and elephant. Of course you could also go for a game drive in Etosha or simply stay put and wait for the game to come to you, or at least to the waterhole viewable from the camp.

Accommodation : Onguma Tented Camp
Basis : Fully inclusive with local beverages

Day 12 - 14 : Waterberg Plateau

From Onguma you will move to Okinjima Bush Camp, which lies in the Omboroko Mountains, part of the Waterberg Plateau. Okinjima is home to the afriCat foundation which is dedicated to preserving the big cats of Namibia, here special emphasis is placed on leopard and cheetah. There are few places in the world where you will be able to see these fine creatures in such close proximity.

Accommodation : Okinjima Bush Camp
Basis : Full Board & Activities

Day 14 - 15 : Windhoek

Spend your last night in this fine country in the fantastic Olive Grove Guesthouse. Here you can relax in the calm and quiet atmosphere of this modern well appointed guesthouse. Here you can dine on the fine a la carte menu from the open-plan kitchen, or you could head into Windhoek town looking for somewhere special for one last romantic night in Namibia.

Accommodation : Olive Grove Guest House
Basis : Breakfast

Day 15 : Day of Departure

Check out at Olive Grove and return your car at the airport and catch your flight home or maybe to Victoria falls, Cape Town or the Kruger National Park.
