Mpumalanga Self Drive and Kruger Park Safari

This is a fantastic trip for families. The hotels and lodges that we have used are really geared towards children. This self drive trip starts in Johannesburg and allows you to spend two days exploring the Mpumalanga area before heading to a private lodge adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

Day 1 : Mpumalanga

On arrival at Johannesburg Airport you will be met by a representative who will welcome you to South Africa and assist you with your luggage. They will present you with your travel documentation and help you to collect your hire car.

You will self drive yourself to Hazyview which is just outside of the Kruger National Park. The Kruger is about 6 hours drive from Johannesburg. You will overnight for 2 nights at Hippo Hollow which is just outside the village of Hazyview

Day 2 : Panoramic Tour

We recommend you make an early start to the day in order to fully enjoy Mpumalanga Panoramic route. Start with a visit to the mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest. You’ll also pass some natural wonders which are well worth visiting such as the Blyde River Canyon. Which is best viewed from God’s Window - a vantage point so high above the valley that it literally feels like "God’s Window". Out of the canyon spurt three huge rocks with tops that look like traditional African hut roofs- hence their name, the Three Rondavels.

The Bourkes Luck Potholes are a natural water feature marking the beginning of the canyon. Over thousands of years, the flow of the Treur River into the Blyde River caused waterborne sand and rock to grind huge, cylindrical potholes into the river’s bedrock.

Day 3 - 5 : Safari

This morning you will drive from Hippo Hollow to Honeyguide Khoka Moya Tented Camp. We recommend that you try and arrive at the lodge at about lunch time in order to enjoy the maximum of your stay.

This impressive & notable private game reserve has a very high concentration of animals and runs adjacent to the Kruger Park. This area attracts animals from all over the Kruger Park, and the open unfenced reserve means that the Big Five and plains game roam freely. Open landrovers ensure that you get the best possible photographic opportunities. Night drives are a fabulous way to view nocturnal animals such as cats and lions. You will spend a total of 2 days on safari.

Honeyguide Khoka Moya makes a big fuss of children and families are very accommodating to their needs.

• Meals : Fully Inclusive of all meals, 2 game drives daily, bush walks and beverages.

Day 5 : End Of Services

Enjoy a final morning game drive and breakfast before checking out of Khoka Moya Tented Camp and self driving back to Johannesburg for your onward travel arrangements.
