A triple water safari in Botswana

This seven-day wildlife and delta experience takes you to two of the best destinations in Botswana: the Okavango Delta and the Savute Channel – made famous by its large populations of lion and elephant.  The safari starts and ends in Victoria Falls so you can easily extend your tour by a few days and spend some time in the area. Victoria Falls has a direct flight to Jo'burg and from there you can go almost anywhere in southern Africa.

Starting and ending in Victoria Falls – which is easily reached from Jo'burg – this seven-day safari goes straight to the Okavango Delta where you will spend four days idling about the islands, lagoons and channels in traditional dug-out canoes and exploring the floodplains in 4WD vehicles.  The Savute Channel is jam-packed with wildlife and that classic African safari happens right in front of your private verandah.

Day 1 - 3: Victoria Falls-Okavango Delta, Botswana

Arrive at Victoria Falls airport ready to be whisked away by your friendly and informative driver. Clear customs and immigration at Kazungula, which is about an hour's drive, and hop onto your scheduled charter flight to Camp Moremi in the Okavango Delta.  Inside the Moremi Game Reserve, your game viewing experiences are diverse and fascinating. Game drives, water safaris and birdwatching offer you the chance to encounter Africa's big game and an amazing variety of the feathered creatures.

Day 3 - 5: Okavango Delta

From Camp Moremi you will take a boat trip to Camp Okavango, deep in the delta and surrounded by permanent water and the odd island.  Activities here include mokoro trips, power boat safaris and walks on the islands. Birdlife, semi-aquatic wildlife and the splendid scenery are the main attractions here. After the charming camp, that is.

Day 5 - 7: Savute Chanel, Botswana

Shielded from the scorching Kalahari sun by a thicket of camelthorn trees, the Savute Safari Lodge looks out over the Savute Channel – the course of the Savute River before it changed its mind.  Animals, including large herds of elephant and prides of lion, continue on ancient paths oblivious to the fact that the river is no longer there. Waterholes and seepages are obvious favourites and the game viewing across the plains is spectacular.  Your next two days will be filled with morning and afternoon game drives, excellent meals and languid evenings.

After your final game drive, you will transfer by light aircraft to Kasane Airport for the return road transfer to Victoria Falls and the end of your amazing Botswana safari.
