Rio Azul

Land the catch of your life!

Fishing is the order of the day at Rio Azul, being one of the few places along the coast where one can access deep water fishing directly from the shore. Here the mighty Govuro River pushes into the sea and the resulting deep water channel is brimful with every variety of big game fish imaginable. So if its a luxurious relaxing beach holiday you are after, you might do better to look in the Bazaruto area, but if it's the thrill of throwing a line in the water that gets your heart pumping, then Rio Azul caters to your rush!

The main lodge area has a lounge, dining room and bar area with a large wooden deck and a plunge pool. Accommodation is in 6 thatched rooms with large beds and en-suite bathrooms. Electricity is supplied by generator and more importantly for the fisherman is the fact that each room has it's own exclusive use boat for fishing in the estuary.

Understandably most of the activities at rio Azul have to do with catching fish. There is deep sea fishing, shore based fishing, estuary fishing, fly-fishing and fish eating. However the snorkeling, swimming and birding are also all exceptional. Take a beach walk or organise a sunset cruise on a local dhow, and maybe you can throw a line of the back, just for good measure.
