A pioneer of luxury camping in one of the world’s last truly great wilderness areas. Situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the arid heart of Samburu National Reserve, Samburu Intrepids looks out over riverbanks where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to drink.
Twenty five tastefully furnished spacious tents with vaulted thatched roofs and sprawling wooden terraces are elevated on individual decks under the shade of huge acacia trees overlooking the river. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and modern conveniences include hot and cold running water, flush toilets and electricity. The lodge is subtly constructed to enhance its closeness with nature. The occasional visits from the elephants and crocodiles below the decks will make your stay most memorable. There exists here much of the romance and charm of an East African safari as undertaken in the early years of the century.
Stirring early morning game drives ending with bush breakfasts and late afternoon drives ending with a sun downer, drinking cocktails from a vantage view point while watching the colourful African sunset. Walking safaris with skilled Samburu guides, sedate camel rides and river raft trips when the river is high.
