Loisaba’s vision is that it remains a catalyst for community development, a hub for wildlife research, and a world-class ecotourism destination offering unique opportunities for guests to become part of the Loisaba story both during their visit and for years to come.
The conservancy is a haven for more than 260 species of birds and 50 species of mammal. Alongside the more common wildlife we are proud to have over 800 elephants who roam across Loisaba, large herds of buffalo, dozens of the endangered Grevys Zebra, reticulated giraffe and the beautiful Greater Kudu. Our Cat population is thriving, with over three prides of Lion on Loisaba at one time and numerous Leopard and Cheetah sightings. To top it off the Wild dog, thought for many years to be extinct in the region, are once again being sighted regularly and often denning on Loisaba.
Accommodation in Loisaba is comfortable beyond measure. Perched on the edge of an escarpment with unhindered views across the Laikipia plains to Mt Kenya and down to a waterhole, Loisaba Tented Camp has a main bar, lounge and dining area with chic Africana décor, and come-hither infinity pool. There are 12 tents, with 3 doubles, 3 twins and three family combinations. And then there are the famous Kiboko Starbeds, a truly memorable African experience. Handcrafted four-poster beds with wheels, are rolled out onto raised wooden platforms so that guests sleep under the endless African night sky, overlooking the Kiboko waterhole.
Guests are guided and hosted by a team of traditional Samburu and Laikipiak Maasai warriors. Loisaba is made for adventure, guests can enjoy complete freedom to choose how they spend their time so the only barrier is your own imagination. Trek through the bush with camels, mountain bike down the escarpment, horseback ride or drive through the plains and really explore this vast and beautiful conservancy. You can even visit the ‘dog team’ who make up the local anti-poaching unit.
