Encounter Mara is a luxury eco-camp tucked into the edge of the forest on the banks of the Olmorijio River in the exclusive Mara Naboisho conservancy. It features twelve spacious tents, each with their own private veranda, with sitting area, lounger, and hammock, offering views over the surrounding savannah. The tents are made from canvas and natural materials and furnished with handmade furniture. The tents are spacious and the décor is simple and elegant.
Each tent has a large bathroom with hot showers and flush toilets and king sized, twin or triple beds, which are turned down for you each night, with a hot water bottle tucked under sheets. The soaps and shampoos provided are eco-friendly and of high quality. Start the morning with an optional wake up call with fresh coffee or tea and a selection of breakfast pastries.
When it comes to cuisine, you'll enjoy many hearty meals, with breakfast, brunch, high tea with its various delicacies, and dinner, with the added option of bush and private dinners.
Giraffe and zebra amble past the camp, as well as other plains game and birdlife, attracted to the salt lick in front of camp. Relax with a cold drink on your veranda or hammock and watch the wildlife show. Game drives in 4×4 open-air safari vehicles are led by expert Maasai guides and the number of tourists is limited, affording you a more exclusive, private experience. There is a high density of animals, especially lions, but you'll also get to spot cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe, zebra, wild dog and rhino.
In Great Migration season this is a prime spot to witness the rush of wildebeest. You can also go on cultural interaction visits, birding trips, bush walks and night drives - sundowners included, as well as the chance to see nocturnal creatures like aardwolf, porcupine and grazing hippos.
