Above the dense cloud forest of Aberdare National Park, The Ark is a game-viewing lodge on hefty pylons overlooking a waterhole. Resembling Noah's fabled craft, the lodge has 60 cabins with en suite bathrooms and makes efficient use of limited space.
The lodge has several decks, each looking out over a large waterhole and serving a variety of purposes. The lounge has a fireplace that is constantly ablaze; dinner – a crafty combination of local and international styles - is served on C deck, glassed in for comfort and a good view. Down below is a stone bunker with turrets to snap awai with your camera - the resident hunter is a naturalist who wouldn't hurt a gnat. Decks A, B, D, the balcony and the catwalk all offer exciting game viewing opportunities and varying degrees of comfort – ranging from basking in fire-warmed glory to bracing the icy mountain air.
The lodge offers several vantage points from which to observe Africa's wildlife unobserved. Elephant, black rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, and many others come to the water's edge and a gentle buzzer in your room ensures you don't miss a thing.
