Zimbabwe may not get the best publicity and it does have problems but it can still offer you the safari experience of a lifetime, in safety and comfort!
- Savour the sight of 'The Smoke That Thunders'
- Spot Big Five and more in Hwange National Park
- Few tourists - have the whole place to yourself
- Drift down the Zambezi, past hippos & crocodiles
- Luxury lodges that really are off the beaten track
- As safe as anywhere else in Africa, we promise you!
While most talk of
Zimbabwe centres on its economic and political woes, the fact remains that the country is still a safe and spectacular safari destination. We are as opposed to the tyrannical rule of Robert Mugabe as everyone else, and the plight of the country is heartbreaking, but that doesn't mean we should consign this country to the scrapheap. Zimbabwe needs all the tourism it can get, and it will surprise you with its myriad of attractions.
While the cities may be slightly turbulent, the national parks and reserves are entirely peaceful, an oasis of calm in a troubled land.
Victoria Falls is the highlight, and the views are certainly better from the Zimbabwean side, while
Lake Kariba and its famous houseboats are also worth a visit. Drift down the Zambezi River, over the Falls, past Kariba and get up close and personal with the wild things at
Mana Pools. And of course you can enjoy a traditional Safari at
Hwange National Park, which boasts the Big Five and is once again becoming one of Africa's finest wilderness areas.
Furthermore, very few tourists currently visit Zimbabwe, meaning you can pretty much have the whole country to yourself! Prices are reasonable, the locals are friendly, the streets are safe - and there really should be nothing stopping you. We have visited Zimbabwe recently and can advise you on the best way to spend your trip here.

We are aware that many people are nervous about travelling to Zimbabwe and given the situation rightly so. But if you look beyond the surface and bad press, there is a lot more to this country than meets the eye. A few of our consultants have personally visited Zimbabwe and so we know what the situation is 'on the ground'. It is safe and tourists are unlikely to encounter any problems, with most of the country's attractions far removed from the trouble spots. And it is also offers great value for money in Southern Africa.
And the country is certainly worth a visit with a myriad of attractions. The Victoria Falls are one of the world's seven natural wonders and the experience from Zimbabwe is different from that of neighbouring Zambia. But the country is about so much more than the Falls, with the mighty Zambezi offering great game viewing along its winding waterways. Both the Mana Pools and Hwange National Park are spectacular and unspoilt with very few tourists - the only people you will be sharing with are the wild animals!
