Fundu Lagoon is the epitome of a “bare foot paradise” with a distinct Robinson Crusoe air in a remote and peaceful location. It has been designed for couples and groups of friends looking to escape the usual holiday crowds. Divers and watersports lovers are also catered for who are looking for a perfect combination of quality activities and some of the best diving in the world. Whatever you’re looking for, Fundu Lagoon provides a friendly, relaxed haven of peace and outstanding natural beauty.

There are 14 bungalows, two of which are suites with their own private chill-out decks and plunge pools. They are built on hardwood stilted decks, located discreetly amongst the trees on the beach, and higher up overlooking the bay, all with their own sense of privacy yet giving full and easy access to the amenities.

Each bungalow has its own hardwood-panelled bathroom with walk-in shower with hot and cold running water and presents the exclusive Fundu Lagoon product range created from local resources. The main areas are all built under thatch and are large and airy and overlook the ocean. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main area or at the jetty bar with a three course lunch and dinner, some of the best cuisine to be found in East Africa.

Fundu Lagoon: Diving & Snorkelling

The waters of the Indian Ocean are among the richest and most exciting in the world. Pemba Island is listed as one of the top dive spots in the world, remote and relatively unknown, surrounded by dramatic and exciting coral reefs stretching as far as the eye can see.

The colourful Indian Ocean marine life can therefore breed and interact along the plunging coral walls that so well symbolise Pemba Island. Large pelagic fish swim and hunt amongst the thousands of small, brightly coloured reef fish that play around the plunging drop-offs and in the turquoise waters of the shallows - an underwater naturalist's dream.

The main means of visiting Pemba Island is by light aircraft charter or schedule flight. Fundu is on Pemba Island, the sister island to Zanzibar lying across the Pemba Channel to the north. Fundu Lagoon is situated on a remote and beautiful beach on the south western side of the island and is only accessible by boat.
