Whether your want to throw yourself off the Victoria Falls Bridge with a lump of elastic as your only support, or enjoy a serene safari on the back of an elephant, Victoria Falls has many things to see and do.

What to do in Victoria Falls

No one is going to complain of being bored in Victoria Falls. Frequently and affectionately coined the adventure capital of the world, there are lots of things to see and do in Victoria Falls. Activities on offer include: Bungee Jumping, White Water Rafting, Helicopter Flips, Boat Cruises, Canoeing, Elephant Back Safaris, Day Trips to Chobe, Walking with Lions, Adrenaline Days, Bridge Swings, Jet Boats, Skydiving, Microlighting, Walks and Game Drives.

As a general rule we suggest a minimum stay of 2 nights in Victoria Falls, this gives you time to see the falls, take a boat cruise and orientate yourselves to the area. For every additional activity you want to do we recommend an extra half a day (sometimes even a day depending on the activity). Speak to your Rhino Africa travel consultant about the best way to plan your activities in Victoria Falls. Activities operate on both the Zambian and Zimbabwean side of the Victoria Falls. During season, activities are extremely popular and whilst these activities can be booked on arrival in Victoria Falls, we recommend prebooking to avoid disappointment.

What activity to do in Victoria Falls

The Flight of Angels:

Coined by David Livingstone when he first documented discovering the Falls 150 years ago; "A sight so wonderful that angels must have gazed down on it in flight". The “Flight of Angels” is the most popular of the flight options. Departing from the helipad, located just 3 kilometres from the Victoria Falls town centre, the “Flight of Angels” is a scenic flight over Victoria Falls with an airtime of 12-13 minutes. Flying lower than a conventional, fixed-wing aircraft, you will fly a complete circuit over the Falls in both directions, giving you the best views of the Falls. A quick trip up river and back over the Zambezi National park completes your flight.

Elephant Back Safari:

Enjoy a spectacular and memorable safari through the African Bush – all from the heady heights of your own African Elephant! Upon arrival, your guide will give a quick introductory talk and safety briefing. You will then be introduced to your induna (elephant carer) and the elephants themselves. On mounting the elephants, the safari begins – view game whilst riding game, savouring the experience of crashing through the African bush atop a gigantic pachyderm. Your safari ends with a short training session and interaction with the elephants followed by breakfast, lunch or snacks (depending on the safari).

1-2-3 Bungeeeee

The Victoria Falls Bungi jump challenges the limits of your mind. Located on the Victoria Falls Bridge, between the borders of Zimbabwe and Zambia, with the Falls as a backdrop. This is arguably the best bungi jump in the world. Test the boundaries of your fear and experience the true sense of safe recklessness as you plummet 111 metres towards the Zambezi River. WE DARE YOU!

White Water Rafting:

Regarded as the world's greatest white water rafting adventure, rafting down the mighty Zambezi is an experience like none other. Get ready for a very wet, adrenalin-filled day. The rapids are all grade 4 and 5, making for big white water. Calm pools of water separate the rapids - perfect for getting your breath back and admiring the spectacular scenery before you tackle the next one. Depending on your adrenalin limit, there is the option of enjoying either a half-day or full day white water rafting trip. And remember the climb out the Gorge is arguably the most strenuous part!

Jet Boats:

The jet boat was invented in New Zealand, born from the need to be able to navigate shallow rivers for high country farmers and the like and has evolved into one of the greatest thrill rides on water. They can travel up to speeds of 80km/hr in water as shallow as 10cm in depth. Expect your driver to perform the “Hamilton Turn” – a high speed 360-degree turn, guaranteed to get the heart rates racing.

Typically, the drivers will take you up river as fast as conditions allow, steering the boat as close to the riverbanks, rocks and cliffs as they can, giving you a sensation of speed and danger few other activities provide.

Chobe Day Trips:

Victoria Falls is situated only 90 minutes drive from Chobe National Park in the northern part of Botswana. Famous for its large herds of Elephants who make their way to the river to drink, play and swim! From Victoria Falls you will be transferred to Kasane where you will hop aboard a river boat for a memorable day of safari viewing. Hippos, Buffalo, Fish Eagles, Sacred Ibises, and Lions are just some of the wildlife you can see from the Boats.

After lunch at a local hotel you will be taken into the Chobe National Park to enjoy a game drive by more conventional means. This is an ideal day trip for those guests who have a little longer time to spend in Victoria Falls.
