Victoria Falls Hotel

Victoria Falls Hotel Description

Established in 1904, The Victoria Falls Hotel is set in The Victoria Falls National Park with a private path to the Victoria Falls. The elegant lounges offer serenity and seclusion. The corridors reflect all the past glories of the Empire and the suites and rooms are superbly furnished in Edwardian-style. The Courtyard entrance to the hotel overlooks lily ponds, lush flowering shrubs and palm trees. Traditional high tea is served every afternoon on the Terrace that has a spectacular view onto the Victoria Falls Bridge and Gorge.

Meals are a real occasion at the Victoria Falls Hotel. The Livingstone Room serves elegant dinner and dancing, with a classic á la Carte menu. Remember that jacket and tie are essential for gentlemen and smart cocktail wear for ladies!   The Jungle Junction serves breakfast and dinner buffets with Shangaan dancers and local choirs as entertainment every night. Stanley's Terrace serves á la Carte lunch, afternoon tea, sundowners, light dinner daily, buffet breakfast and table d´hôte menu.

Victoria Falls Hotel: Afternoon Tea

Cucumber sandwiches, scones, strawberry jam, clotted cream and lashings and lashings of tea... afternoon tea is now a very much a tradition at Victoria Falls Hotel ! It was in 1840 when Anna Duchess of Bedrford decided that eight hours was more than one woman should reasonably be expected to wait for her dinner, and instructed her butler to bring tea, bread and butter to her boudoir at 5pm.

Finding this repast just the ticket for bridging the chasm between lunch and dinner she began to invite her friends to join her for tea !
Nowadays guests make a point of enjoying Afternoon Tea on Stanley’s Terrace overlooking the Victoria Falls Bridge, where adventurous souls can be spotted bungee jumping.
