The River Club

The River Club Description

Here is a lodge that hearkens to a time long gone when graceful buildings were crammed full of mementos, heirlooms, antique furniture and a pedicured lawn that rolls down to the river's edge. Modern touches like a rim-flow pool and flood-lit croquet lend themselves to an air of restful elegance.  So you're at The River Club: 18km upstream from Victoria Falls on the bank of the broad and brooding Zambezi River and a haven of dignified charm and sophistication.  Ten luxurious thatched chalets bare themselves to the beauty of the passing river; each is built on a raised wooden deck with a split level, thatched and comfortably appointed.

The living area is an airy Edwardian-style homestead with a wrap-around verandah, a long dining room and a lounge and library. Pathways wind through a lush garden beneath the deep shade of the riverine thicket.  Activities in the greater Victoria Falls area are many and varied. Choose from a lazy saunter up the river and lunch on an island or a stomach-churning swing through the Batoka Gorge. Whatever your day entails, the charm and luxury of the River Club will restore normality after all is done, seen and snapped.

The River Club: Zambezi River and Victoria Falls are alive with activity

Included in your full board tariff: tour of Zambian side of The Falls; visit to Simonga Village; evening cruises on the Zambezi River; game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya Game Park which has white rhino; fishing; boat cruises; bird walks; and visits to Livingstone Museum, The Railway Museum, a Crocodile Farm, local markets and historical places of interest.  When you're done with all of that try some of these optional extras: scenic flights; rafting, boarding, kayaking, jet boating, bungee jumps and gorge swings in the Batoka Gorge; canoe safaris; horse trails; lunch on Livingstone Island; fly fishing; tours of the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls; golf at Elephant Hills in Zimbabwe; day trips to Chobe National Park in Botswana; elephant-back safaris; and, believe it or not, the list goes on.
