Victoria Falls is a spectacular waterfall and one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Falls themselves plunge into a 300ft gorge creating a spray that has given them the name - 'The Smoke that Thunders'. The Falls span the 1.5km width of the Zambezi River where one can enjoy a range of adrenalin activities - no wonder Vic Falls is also considered the adventure capital of Africa.

At Rhino Africa Safaris we regard Livingstone and Victoria Falls as the same destination. The Zambezi River serves as the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe with each country competing for your dollars. The Zimbabwean side of the
Victoria Falls is the more established of the two destinations and this bustling town is home to the famous
Victoria Falls Hotel. In recent years there has been much development on the Zambian side of the falls in
Livingstone, including secluded safari style lodges on the banks of the Zambezi. Adventure activities can be enjoyed from either side of the falls.
Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls
Rhino Africa acknowledges that Zimbabwe has been getting plenty of bad press lately, due to the unstable political environment and economic turmoil. However, tourist destinations like Victoria Falls, Lake Kariba and Hwange National Park have been declared trouble-free and at this stage we have no hesitation in recommending the destination. As a destination we tend to find Victoria Falls slightly cheaper than Livingstone – we highly recommend that you discuss this with your Rhino Africa consultant. Zimbabwe Update! Zambia - Livingstone
There are distinctively two types of accommodation on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls. The first type of hotel accommodation is the Resort style accommodation and consists of the Royal Livingstone and The Zambezi Sun. These are large hotels built on the banks of the Zambezi. Staying here gives you unlimited access to the Falls, however bear in mind that staying here does restrict you to dining in the resort which can become pricey. If you want to do lots of adrendaline activities then these hotels are a good choice.
The second type of accommodation in Zambia is lodge style accommodation and these are located west of the Falls. Situated anything from 15 - 20 minutes from the falls, they are usually located 'river side' and consists of small, luxury and intimate lodges that are usually sold on a fully inclusive basis. Staying at one of these lodges (such as Tongabezi, River Club, Sussi and Chuma, Islands of Siankaba) gives you access to the falls, but also other activities such as Canoeing, Boat Cruises and Game Drives.
