One of the advantages of visiting Tarangire National Park is that it's easier to access than Ngorongoro and the Serengeti and offers a far more exclusive wilderness experience away from the crowds. Just 118 km (75 miles) southwest of Arusha, the drive here should not take more than a few hours and winds through some of Tanzania's most picturesque landscapes. It is even closer to
Lake Manyara and can also be reached by road from
Ngorongoro and the
Serengeti.
The more discerning traveller can also opt for an internal flight. There are direct flights from
Dar es Salaam,
Arusha, the
Serengeti and
Ngorongoro which should take about 30 minutes. You will land at a private airstrip where you will be met by a representative from your accommodation of choice and transferred to your lodge.
