Seronera Wildlife Lodge

Seronera Wildlife Lodge Information

Seronera Wildlife Lodge is situated in the central part of the Serengeti. It has 75 double rooms. The building was constructed in the 1960's almost entirely of wood and glass around a natural "kopjes" or rocky outcrop. The spacious bar and restaurant have views over the plains and there is an open terrace outside from which to view the sunset All rooms have a stunning view of the Serengeti. Please bear in mind that the lodge is in an unfenced conservation area and a variety of wildlife may be found in or around the lodge at any time.

Seronera Wildlife Lodge has electricity that is supplied by generator. There is electricity from 05h00 - 12h00 and from 17h00 - 24h00. There is one bar open daily in the main lounge area. The restaurant provides three meals daily, although varied options, such as bush dinners, are available dependent on occupancy. Menus are varied between buffets and a la carte depending on occupancy.

Heart of the Serengeti Plains

Situated in the heart of the Serengeti, world famous for its large amount of grazing mammals, this includes 1.5 million wildebeest. The lodge has been built on the wildebeest migratory route, which occurs twice annually. There are varied habitats in the national park which one is able to view by vehicle and hot air balloon. Serengeti is derived from the Masaai word "Serenget" meaning "wide open space". The word is definitely true upon experiencing uninterrupted views under an African sky.

The Seronera Valley is an important transition zone between the southern plains and northern woodlands. It provides a rich mosaic of habitats, crisscrossed by rivers, the most permanent of which is Seronera River. Seronera Wildlife Lodge takes it name from this river which surrounds the lodge in a u-shape. With year-round water, this is the most reliable part of the park to view wildlife. The elusive Leopard is also common here but less easily spotted. The river tracks offer the best possibilities to view leopard, which usually rest in the branches of the acacia trees.
