Ndutu Safari Lodge is situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the southern Serengeti eco-system. It is different from most other properties in the region as it is not nestled on the crater rim but rather opens out onto the Serengeti plains. The crater is still close enough to be visited on a day trip and is a few hours drive from the lodge. Plus it overlooks Lake Ndutu, its own private soda lake which invites a whole host of animals.
Accommodation consists of 34 stone cottages, each complete with private verandah that faces out onto Lake Ndutu - so you can enjoy great game viewing without leaving your lodge! You can choose from a room with 2 single beds, a king-size bed or a family rooms with both! There is also an open-sided bar, lounge and dining room, as well as a campfire which is the perfect place to exchane stories after your safari.
Ndutu Safari Lodge opens out onto the Serengeti plains and offers the incredible opportunity to watch a million wildebeest congregate during the calving season - and it is also within easy reach of the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater!

Migration in Calving Season!
Unlike any of the other lodges in the Ngorongoro area, Ndutu Safari Lodge offers the opportunity to watch a million wildebeest give birth during the calving season. The crater does not play host to the migration but it does pass through the Conservation Area. The flood of wildebeest arrive here during the rains from December through May and calve on the plains in February. It is quite a sight! And from June through November, the resident animals converge around Ndutu's waterholes and marshes.
