Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake in Tanzania's Rift Valley, south of the
Ngorongoro Crater. It is part of the Lake Manyara National Park, an expanse of groundwater forest and acacia woodland. You can spot flamingos fluttering about along the soda waters or shores of this picturesque lake and within the national park, there are herds of elephant, an array of birdlife and the famous tree-climbing lions!

Lake Manyara is one of the lakes formed by the
Great Rift Valley. Caused by the movement of the earth's tectonic plates millions of years ago, this gigantic fracture in the Earth's crust runs some 6440km from the Dead Sea in Jordan all the way to
