Lake Manyara is one of the lakes formed by the
Great Rift Valley. Caused by the movement of the earth's tectonic plates millions of years ago, this gigantic fracture in the Earth's crust runs some 6440km from the Dead Sea in Jordan all the way to
Mozambique. It passes through all of East Africa and is responsible for the formation of the Great Lakes and the mountain ranges in the region. The heart of it coarses through Tanzania and no trip is complete without having been here and seen it for yourself!
