Remote and inaccessible, Katavi National Park remains one of Africa's last unspoilt wildernesses. Often overshadowed by it's slightly larger brothers, the Serengeti and Ruaha National Parks, Katavi is often the last choice on most visitors itineraries, it really shouldn't be. This wilderness located in the western area of Tanzania, is one of the most untouched areas of the entire country. It offers unspoilt wildlife viewing in a remote location far off the beaten track and undisturbed by large numbers of visitors.

Katavi’s dramatic scenery is as varied as it is pristine. Flood plains of thick reeds and dense waterways are home to a massive population of hippo and crocodile, and the birdlife is phenomenal. In the woodlands to the west, forest canopies shroud vast herds of buffalo and elephant. Herds of over a 1000 buffalo have been documented in Katavi. Here rivers flow into great lakes and swamps filling them with dirt coloured water after the rains and animals from all corners of the park descend to quench their thirst.
