Ras Kutani is set on the spectacular Indian Ocean shores just south of Dar es Salaam, offering the ultimate private beachside destination in Southern Tanzania. Each of the 12 charming beach cottages, are built of local organic material – wood, bamboo and makuti thatching and feature furnishings reminiscent of the Tanzanian coast’s rich cultural heritage. They are located either close to the sea, overlooking the freshwater lagoon or on a hill – all with views of the ocean. En suite bathrooms comprise a hand basin, shower with hot water and w.c. Enormous beds are draped with walk-in mosquito nets, and sea breezes and bedside fans keep the spacious beach cottages cool.

An array of activities

Ras Kutani is the perfect hideaway in which to relax after an exciting Tanzanian safari. While relaxation is the keynote of Ras Kutani, a full range of activities is offered including kayaking in the freshwater lagoon, snorkelling (offshore or along nearby reefs), guided forest and beach walks and body surfing, as well as exciting optional extras such as thoroughbred horse riding and deep-sea fishing (catch-and-release) The temperate seas and proximity of beautiful coral reefs ensure a wealth of marine life for those keen on snorkelling.

Apart from the immense variety of colourful fish, dolphins, whales and turtles are frequently sighted. An old shipwreck within walking distance of Ras Kutani, provides interesting snorkelling when the sea is calm. Snorkelling trips by boat to Kimbiji reef are also available (at additional cost and subject to sea conditions).
