While a trip to the
Serengeti, the
Ngorongoro Crater and the
Great Migration on the Northern Safari circuit can be combined with a visit to - or climb up -
Mount Kilimanjaro. If you choose rather to head south, many people fly into
Dar es Salaam and it is worth spending a few days in this cosmpolitan, chaotic city and then heading along the coast or to
Zanzibar Island. The
Selous and
Ruaha Game Reserves are largely undiscovered wonders further south and are famous for their massive herds of elephant.
To the west lies
Lake Malawi and
Lake Tanganyika which both offer great water-based activities and beautiful beaches, while
Lake Victoria forms the northern borders with
Kenya and
Uganda.
