With numerous activities on offer, Sun City has something for everyone.
Of the numerous activities at Sun City Resort - deep in the African bush and surrounded by sub-tropical jungle the Valley of Waves, complete with eight-foot swells and super-soft sand, is a big hit.
The two
golf courses were designed by Gary Player and the championship course hosts the biggest event of the year in South Africa the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Other sports facilities include squash, tennis, gym, jogging trails, a spinning studio and of course there's a swimming pool everywhere you look.
Casinos abound and there are themes, games, and facilities to suit every style and they never close.
Gut-churning slides and exciting
watersports are a hit with adventure-seekers, as are the
elephant-back safaris, zip slides, quad-biking, clay-pigeon shooting and archery.
The natural world is on display at Sun City with nature trails that wind through the 25-hectare botanical gardens; an animal world; an aviary; a crocodile sanctuary; a raptor centre; a butterfly world; and the
Pilanesberg National Park is a short shuttle away for a taste of a Malaria-free African Safari.
The
children's entertainment makes you want to be a child again: bumper cars, treasure hunts, mini golf, a crθche, a steam train, movies, trampolines, horse riding and an adventure centre.
Restaurants and bars abound and there's a theme for every occasion: quiet and secluded bistros, poolside cocktail bars and late-night dancing clubs.
The resort has plenty of shops for the shoe-junkie, the clothes-freak or the modern-day trophy hunter and services including health spas, hair salons and some of the more mundane but oh-so-helpful things like pharmacies, newsagents and a bureau de change.
For something different you can visit the
cultural village and take an inside look into African life; book yourself a seat at the evening's extravaganza show in the theatre and, if you're really feeling in the mood, you can
get married in the chapel. Viva Las Vegas.
