Gisakura Resthouse | InformationA few short kilometres from the edge of the thick vine fused Nyungwe Forest and close to the Gisakura tea estate is the only accommodation available in the area - the Gisakura Resthouse. Forming part of the ranger and fire warden station the buildings are of a simple wood and stone construction with tiled roofs and are not jazzed up in the least. Fine furnishings and prominent decor you will have to go elsewhere to find - round here the decor is the spectacular views and the wonderful forest trees so very close to your doorstep. And that's before you move on to the incredible diversity of animals you can find on your hikes and walks through the forest, including 13 different species of primates. Despite not being a luxury accommodation option, Gisakura Resthouse is immaculately clean and although some of the cottages share ablution facilities, these too live up to the same standards of cleanliness. The staff too are incredibly helpful and the guides knowledgeable about the varied fauna and flora of the forest. Food is prepared fresh and thus requires guests to place their order a few hours in advance, since no food will be bought and prepared if guests are 'not eating in'.
