At 550km square The Pilanesberg National Park is a relatively small reserve when it is compared to many of the Game Reserves in Africa. However we believe that for such a relatively small reserve it does have a lot going for it. Located about 2 hours from Johannesburg the Pilanesberg offers an affordable Malaria Free Big Five Safari - ideal for guests and travellers whose budget might not stretch to the luxury prices of other reserves in Africa.

The largest and most well known of the lodges in Pilanesberg National Park is the
Kwa Maritane and
Bakubung Lodges. These two lodges are large and often the first choice of groups and incentives. With a distinct hotel feel about them – these lodges should not be the first choice for guests who are looking for an intimate and personal experience. Guests looking for this kind of experience should consider staying at
Tshukudu Bush Lodge a small 6 room camp situated on top of a hill and with panoramic views. Get into training – as a whopping 130 steps need to be climbed to get to the lodge itself. A recent addition to the lodges in the Pilanesberg is
Ivory Tree Lodge and purpose built lodge with 60 rooms. The central facility includes, stunning feature pool, bar, conference room, dinning room, boma, reception and curio shop.
