Camp Okavango

Camp Okavango | Information

Camp Okavango in Botswana is situated on remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience. Unashamed luxury blends with the essence of old fashion Africa in the the elegant thatch and lethaka main building which houses a cocktail bar, lounge and dining room, while the expansive open air patio caters for al fresco meals and evenings around a blazing fire. Shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful sundeck and plunge pool provide relief during the hot midday hours, whilst an elevated observation platform affords stunning views of the tranquil floodplains.

Camp Okavango accommodates only 24 guests in intimate exclusivity in East African style safari tents individually sited on raised teak platforms with en-suite ablution facilities and a private sundeck. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with a Rhodesian Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional directors chairs; colourful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway.

Camp Okavango : Game Activities

Camp Okavango is located in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, activities here are centred around the water and include boat rides and mokoros. The Okavango Delta is a conundrum, a contradiction of 16000 square km of crystal clear channels, serene lagoons and a myriad of islands; this unique wetland system survives atop the sands of the vast Kalahari Desert. It is fed by the mighty Okavango River, which flows southeast from the Angolan highlands, to flood the Delta on a perennial and annual cycle.

The water wilderness of the Okavango Delta offers a safe haven for innumerable bird and wildlife species. The elusive Sitatunga Antelope has found refuge in this pristine wetland ecosystem, while birds such as the Africa Fish Eagle, Pel's Fishing Owl and many others are magnificent in their spectacular display.

Your arrival at Camp Okavango will be arranged for you by co-ordinating a transfer by means of light aircraft charter. These air transfers operate from either Maun, Kasane (to which you will be transfered to by road, if travelling from Livingstone or Victoria Falls) or any of the other camps or lodges in Botswana. If you are staying in nearby lodges we highly recommend doing a boat transfer as this allows you to experience the  Okavango Delta in its own right.
