Xakanaxa Camp | Description

Xakanaxa Camp's location on the banks of the Xakanaxa lagoon and the Khwai River ensures guests at any time of year are treated to an authentic Okavango experience. Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-Kan-A-Ka) is one of the few camps with access to permanent waterways and to the open scrubland and plains. Thus when staying here you will be afforded the opportunity to see a vast array of wildlife endemic to the two different ecosystems. Be sure to take along a pair of binoculars as the birdlife at Xakanaxa Camp is unparrelled.

The Camp itself oozes old world charm, accomodation is in twelve luxury tents set on wooden platforms near to the water. Hot and cold showers and flush toilets are of course modern but required ammenities. The whole place has been recently renovated and the standard is exceptionally high.

To match the high standard of the facilities, game viewing and location, is the high standard of service offered by the staff. They are friendly, helpful and the guides extremely knowledgeable. Xakanaxa is located 50 kms to the west of the Khwai Gate in the northern sector of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. To the north and west of the camp are the permanent lagoons and waterways of the Okavango, and to the south and east are the dry woodlands.
