Stanley's Camp consists of 8 classic styled safari tents. The delicately appointed tents exude classic Africa; handcrafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that transport you to early 19th century Africa. Each unit offers en-suite facilities and a private balcony. Hammocks and Morris chairs on the balcony are perfect for relaxation in the African sunshine. The main building is raised and offers extensive views over surrounding floodplains. Stanley's is carefully blended into the existing tree line, with its main support being a large sausage tree.

Stanley's Camp offers some of the best game viewing in the Okavango, including the rare and elusive wild dog. A completely unique Stanley's feature is an educational experience with a group of semi-habituated African elephants. Spend a day walking with the elephants and observing them up close in their natural environment. Other activities available at Stanley's Camp include serene mokoro canoe excursions, exclusive bush dinners, and game drives in customised, open 4x4 vehicles - including the rare opportunity of night drives. Due to the fact that Stanley's Camp is in a private concession, guests also have the exclusive option of walking safaris with an armed professional guide.

Walking with the Elephants

Stanley’s Camp offers you the opportunity to meet a group of three elephants. This activity encompasses a leisurely paced walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants, becoming personally acquainted with them, observing and interacting with them and a picnic lunch in their company. Doug and Sandi Groves who look after the family of elephants adopted Jabu, Thembi and later Morula, rescuing them from culling operations that had left them as orphans.

You are invited to discover the elephants, from the bristled ends of their long tails to the tip of their powerful yet sensitive trunks. Marvel at their big ears, thoughtful eyes and enormous padded feet. Trace the textures of their skin and the silken polish of their ivory. In our opinion the Elephant experience at Stanley's Camp is one of the most powerful and extraordinary experiences and should not be missed.

Stanley's Camp is accessible by small aircraft and the lodge has its own airstrip. Rhino Africa can organise charter flights on your behalf. Flights can be arranged from other lodges or from Maun and Kasane Airports. The major gateways in this area are Victoria Falls Airport, Livingstone Airport and Maun.
